The End Is Near

Mid semester break is now finished and it has given me some time to think about what I should do for my final project. At first I was like what the hell should I create, I was thinking maybe a car, but to me that sounded abit to complex and boring, then i thought maybe a chess board with chess pieces and make them move, but then watching that would get boring after a while, so I thought I would ask stuart. He sugested doing create something that I like...like cooking but i was like hmm nahhhhh, then he asked me, what has you art been about all through the year? I was like, it was about me. "Then do a self portrait of yourself", stuart suggested.... hmmmm a self portait that sounded interesting and a challenge.

AND IT IS....creating myself, even just my face is very time consuming and tricky, I am enjoying it but i am getting frustrated now and then. I started by using a photo of myself as the guideline and created the front view of myface with just points that I then turned into polygons, the next step I am currently doing is the side of my face, making it 3d, which is verrrryyy fiddly and quite annoying, but i am getting there.

the kitchen is complete

hey guys and dolls, i have finally finished my kitchen. I ended up getting the program which made it a whole lot easier. I got version 9 and i had fun with it. I had to get familiar with the basics like working with selected polygons and points in terms changing the colours to dragging ect ect. I also learned how to change the surface area colours. For example if i wanted a wooden texture for the cupboard, I would have to first creat the object in modeler and saving the colour with a name, such as wood. I would then take the object into layout and go into surface editor where i would select the object then the colour i wanted to change then press the T button where i would select the texture i wanted. One thing i also learned from my mistakes about this, it that i cant just save it because the object returns to it original colour, so instead u have to save it as save all object increments.
Now in layout I made my surreal kitchen appear as if it was floating in the sky. See even though my kitchen looked lyk an ordinary kitchen, to me what made it surreal was the fact that it was flying in the sky with fans, because when i think of surreal, i think of dreams... hence clouds.
I had to get used to working with the different lights and thanks to stuarts space bar shortcut it made moving/sizing alot easier.
I would have to say though, trying to make the night scene was alot harder then the day.

Im bacccc

hey folks, i know i have been abit slack with this blog... its just hard trying to manage 2 blogs. Anyways I will updats you on what we have done so far in our cma class. We have been looking at this new program lightwave, this program i found quiet tricky and very different to others because of the fact it has two parts to it, a place where you model the object (modeler) and a place where you set the scene (layout). In modeler we have looked at quiet afew tools, such as boolean which you can subtract one object from the other, bevel which can mold shapes and a whole heap more. Attached is my attempt at making a kettle, the end result is what you get when in layout. Layout is quiet fun to play around with to, its like a movie set where you got to place your camera in a certain position plus positioning different lights.

Our first assignment is to make a kitchen. I have a plan already of what i want my kitchen to look like, I will attach the picture later. I also have been looking on the internet on how to add different texture, such as glass and steel and what not, so I guess I'll give it a go...cheerio
